Diagnostic Procedure
Step |
Inspection |
Action |
---|---|---|---|
1
VERIFY FRONT BODY CONTROL MODULE (FBCM) DTCs AGAIN
• Clear the DTC for the front body control module (FBCM) using the M-MDS.
• Operate the light switch in TNS position.
• Retrieve the front body control module (FBCM) DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 8.
2
INSPECT LICENSE PLATE LIGHT BULB (LH)
• Inspect the license plate light bulb (LH).
• Is the license plate light bulb (LH) normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the license plate light bulb (LH), then go to Step 7.
3
INSPECT LICENSE PLATE LIGHT BULB (RH)
• Inspect the license plate light bulb (RH).
• Is the license plate light bulb (RH) normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the license plate light bulb (RH), then go to Step 7.
4
INSPECT CONNECTORS
• Switch the ignition to off.
• Disconnect the negative battery terminal.
• Disconnect the following connectors and inspect the connector engagement and connection condition, and inspect the terminals for damage, deformation, corrosion, or disconnection.
• Are all connectors normal?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Repair or replace the malfunctioning connector, then go to Step 7.
5
INSPECT FOR SHORT TO GROUND IN LICENSE PLATE LIGHT/TAILLIGHT CIRCUIT
• Verify that the following connectors are disconnected:
• Inspect for continuity between front body control module (FBCM) terminal 1I (wiring harness-side) and body ground.
• Is there continuity?
Yes
Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between the following terminals:
• Taillight (rear combination light) (LH) terminal C—Front body control module (FBCM) terminal 1I
• Taillight (rear combination light) (RH) terminal C—Front body control module (FBCM) terminal 1I
• Taillight (liftgate light) (LH) terminal A—Front body control module (FBCM) terminal 1I (with taillight (liftgate light))
• Taillight (liftgate light) (RH) terminal A—Front body control module (FBCM) terminal 1I (with taillight (liftgate light))
• License plate light (LH) terminal A—Front body control module (FBCM) terminal 1I
• License plate light (RH) terminal A—Front body control module (FBCM) terminal 1I
If there is a common connector:
• Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a short to ground.
• Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
If there is no common connector:
• Repair or replace the wiring harness which has a short to ground.
Go to Step 7.
No
Go to the next step.
6
PERFORM DTC INSPECTION AND VERIFY TAILLIGHT (REAR COMBINATION LIGHT)/TAILLIGHT (LIFTGATE LIGHT) (WITH TAILLIGHT (LIFTGATE LIGHT)) MALFUNCTION
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the front body control module (FBCM) using the M-MDS.
• Operate the light switch in TNS position.
• Retrieve the front body control module (FBCM) DTCs using the M-MDS.
• Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the rear combination light/liftgate light (with taillight (liftgate light)), then go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 8.
7
VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
• Make sure to reconnect all disconnected connectors.
• Reconnect the negative battery cable.
• Clear the DTC for the front body control module (FBCM) using the M-MDS.
