Description

• The smart city brake support (SCBS) operates even though the operation conditions for the smart city brake support (SCBS) have not been met.

• The smart city brake support (SCBS) does not operate even though the operation conditions for the smart city brake support (SCBS) have been met.

Possible Cause

• Laser sensor malfunction

• There is fogging, water droplets, or frost on the exterior side of the windshield.

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	VERIFY DTCs • Display the DTC for the laser sensor using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [LASER SENSOR].) • Is a DTC displayed?	Yes	Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [LASER SENSOR].)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY WINDSHIELD CONDITION • Visually inspect the exterior side of the windshield for fogging, water droplets, and frost. • Is there fogging, water droplets, or frost on the exterior side of the windshield?	Yes	Remove fogging, water droplets, and frost, then go to the next step.
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE WAS CORRECTED • Has the malfunction symptom been eliminated?	Yes	Troubleshooting completed. (Explain the contents of the servicing to the customer.)
3		No	Explain to the customer that the smart city brake support (SCBS) may not operate normally due to the detection performance limitations of the laser sensor. For the detection performance limitations, refer to the [SMART CITY BRAKE SUPPORT (SCBS)] for new vehicle instruction.
