Operation After Replacing Battery (With i-stop)

Note
•  If the battery charge/discharge flow (number of times battery can operate) exceeds the specification, a DTC is recorded and the i-stop warning light (amber) flashes. If the battery charge/discharge flow (number of times battery can operate) exceeds the specification, replace the battery with a new one.
•  When replacing the battery, perform the following procedure: When replacing the PCM simultaneously, perform the PCM configuration first. (See PCM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].) Without multi-information display

Step

Action

1
Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

Shift the selector lever to the N position.

Perform the following work with the brake pedal depressed.
1.  Depress the accelerator pedal for 5 s or more.
2.  Verify that the charging system warning light and the master warning light flash.
3.  Depress and release the accelerator pedal 3 times.
4.  Verify that the charging system warning light illuminates and the master warning light turns off.

Switch the ignition off and disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

Verifying battery condition initialization setting (i-stop setting). (See BATTERY CONDITION INITIALIZATION SETTING (i-stop SETTING).)

With multi-information display

Step

Action

Close the all doors.

Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

If a warning message is displayed in the multi-information display, clear the screen using the INFO switch and then go to the next step.

Shift the selector lever to the N position.

Perform the following work with the brake pedal depressed.
1.  Depress the accelerator pedal for 5 s or more.
2.  Verify that a warning message (master warning light) on the multi-information display flashes.
3.  Depress and release the accelerator pedal 3 times.
4.  Verify that a warning message (master warning light) on the multi-information display turn off.

Switch the ignition off and disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

Verifying battery condition initialization setting (i-stop setting). (See BATTERY CONDITION INITIALIZATION SETTING (i-stop SETTING).)


Battery Removal/Installation

1.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

2.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

Battery and battery box removal note (With i-stop and i-ELOOP)

Caution
•  When removing the battery, do not place the battery on the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP) or hit it with the battery. Otherwise, the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP) could be damaged.

1.  Remove the battery with the battery box while the battery is positioned at an angle as shown in the figure.

Battery tray removal note (Without i-stop and i-ELOOP)

1.  Remove the three battery tray bolts so that the battery tray is free to move.

2.  Remove the rubber at the two locations on the air cleaner component from the battery tray.

3.  Remove the battery tray.


Battery tray removal note (With i-stop and i-ELOOP)

1.  Affix the protective tape to the position shown in the figure to prevent scratches and damage.

2.  Remove the nuts shown in the figure.

3.  Set aside the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP) as shown in the figure.

4.  Remove the three battery tray bolts so that the battery tray is free to move.

5.  Remove the rubber at the two locations on the air cleaner component from the battery tray.

6.  Remove the battery tray.

7.  When replacing the battery tray with a new one, remove the bracket shown in the figure.

Battery tray installation note (Without i-stop and i-ELOOP)

1.  Set the battery tray to the installation position.

2.  Tighten the battery tray installation bolts in the order shown in the figure.

Tightening torque
22—30 N·m {2.3—3.0 kgf·m, 17—22 ft·lbf}

3.  Install the rubber at the two locations on the air cleaner component to the battery tray.

Battery tray installation note (With i-stop and i-ELOOP)

1.  When replacing the battery tray with a new one, install the bracket using the following procedure.

(1)  Temporarily tighten the bolt shown in the figure.

(2)  Tighten the bolts in the order shown in the figure.

Tightening torque
8—10 N·m {82—101 kgf·cm, 71—88 in·lbf}

2.  Set the battery tray to the installation position.

3.  Tighten the battery tray installation bolts in the order shown in the figure.

22—30 N·m {2.3—3.0 kgf·m, 17—22 ft·lbf}

4.  Install the rubber at the two locations on the air cleaner component to the battery tray.

5.  While inserting the rubber bush of the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP), set the DC-DC converter (i-ELOOP) to the installation position.

6.  Tighten the nuts shown in the figure.

1.  Install the battery box so that the side with the larger notch is pointed at the engine.

Caution
•  Connect the battery terminal while pushing it down because the battery terminal may loosen.


Negative battery terminal connection note

Caution
•  Connect the battery terminal while pushing it down because the battery terminal may loosen.

1.  Connect the negative battery terminal so that the wiring harness does not block the upper part of the battery filler cap.
