DTC P188A:00		4WD control module
DETECTION CONDITION		• 4WD control module detects the differential oil temperature is high.
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION		• Refer to “Fail-safe function table”. (See DTC TABLE [ELECTRONIC 4WD CONTROL SYSTEM].)
POSSIBLE CAUSE		• If high differential oil temperature detected, protect the system
SYSTEM WIRING DIAGRAM		Not applicable

Diagnostic Procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	ALLOW VEHICLE TO COOL DOWN • Switch the ignition OFF and allow the vehicle to cool down.		Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED • Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the 4WD control module. (See CLEARING DTC [ELECTRONIC 4WD CONTROL SYSTEM]. • Using the M-MDS, perform the 4WD control module DTC inspection. (See DTC INSPECTION [ELECTRONIC 4WD CONTROL SYSTEM].) • Is the same DTC present?	Yes	Replace the 4WD control module, then go to the next step. (See 4WD CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT • Are any DTCs present?	Yes	Go to the applicable DTC inspection. (See DTC TABLE [ELECTRONIC 4WD CONTROL SYSTEM].)
3	VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT • Are any DTCs present?	No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
