DETECTION CONDITION
|
• The instrument cluster received error signals from the transaxle for 5 s with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).
|
||
FAIL-SAFE FUNCTION
|
• Refer to “Fail-safe function table”. (See DTC TABLE [ELECTRONIC 4WD CONTROL SYSTEM].)
|
||
POSSIBLE CAUSE
|
• The transaxle could not send a normal signal temporarily. (DTCs are stored in the TCM.)
• TCM malfunction
• Instrument cluster malfunction
|

VERIFY TCM DTC
• Using the M-MDS, perform the TCM DTC inspection.
• Are any DTCs present?

Yes

Go to applicable DTC inspection.
DTC troubleshooting completed, then go to the next step.

|
DRIVE VEHICLE THEN VERIFY TCM DTC AGAIN
• Drive the vehicle at a vehicle speed of 30 km/h {19 mph} or more for 100 s or more.
• Using the M-MDS, perform the TCM DTC inspection.
• Are any DTCs present?

Yes
|
Go to applicable DTC inspection.
DTC troubleshooting completed, then go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY INSTRUMENT CLUSTER DTC
• Using the M-MDS, perform the instrument cluster DTC inspection.
• Are any DTCs present?
|
Yes
|
Go to applicable DTC inspection.
DTC troubleshooting completed, then go to the next step.

No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY DTC TROUBLESHOOTING COMPLETED
• Using the M-MDS, clear the DTC from the 4WD control module.
• Using the M-MDS, perform the 4WD control module DTC inspection.
• Is the same DTC present?

Yes
|
Replace the 4WD control module, then go to the next step.
|
No
|
Go to the next step.

VERIFY NO DTC IS PRESENT
• Are any DTCs present?
|
Yes
|
Go to the applicable DTC inspection.
|
No
|
DTC troubleshooting completed.
