Description

•  Electric parking brake warning light turns on.

Possible Cause

•  Electric parking brake control module malfunction
•  Instrument cluster malfunction

VERIFY ALL SYSTEM DTCs
•  Switch the ignition OFF.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 10 s or more.
•  Perform a CMDTC self-test using the M-MDS.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.

No
Go to the next step.

DETERMINE IF CAUSE OF MALFUNCTION IS ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE CONTROL MODULE OR INSTRUMENT CLUSTER
•  Verify that all the indicator lights and warning lights in the instrument cluster turn on/off using the simulation function WL + IL in the M-MDS instrument cluster.
•  Does the electric parking brake warning light turn on/off?
Yes
Replace the electric parking brake control module.

No
Replace the instrument cluster.
(See INSTRUMENT CLUSTER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
