HEATED STEERING WHEEL CONTROL UNIT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Warning
•  Handling the driver-side air bag module improperly can accidentally deploy the air bag module, which may seriously injure you. Read the air bag system service warnings and cautions before handling the air bag module. (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE WARNINGS.) (See AIR BAG SYSTEM SERVICE CAUTIONS.)

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal and wait for 1 min or more. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Lower column cover (See COLUMN COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Driver-side air bag module (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE REMOVAL.) (See DRIVER-SIDE AIR BAG MODULE INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Steering switch (See STEERING SWITCH REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Steering wheel bezel (See STEERING WHEEL BEZEL REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

3.  Remove the screws.

4.  While pressing the tabs of the steering wheel cover in the direction of arrows (1) shown in the figure, press the steering wheel cover in the direction of arrow (2) to detach the tabs of the steering wheel cover from the steering wheel.

5.  Disconnect the heated steering wheel control unit connector.

6.  Remove the screws.

7.  Remove the heated steering wheel control unit wiring harness from the hook of the steering wheel cover.

8.  Remove the heated steering wheel control unit.

9.  Install in the reverse order of removal.
