Description

VIN data unmatched with instrument cluster

Detection condition
•  Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module detects that the vehicle identification number (VIN) sent from the instrument cluster does not match twice in a row.
Fail-safe function
•  In factory mode: The mode cannot be switched from factory mode to market mode because test mode cannot be activated.
•  In market mode: Because the configuration data (VIN) stored in the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module does not correspond with the vehicle configuration data (VIN), an emergency call (both manual and auto) is not made (to prevent theft of Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module).
Test mode is not activated

•  Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module for different vehicle model is installed
•  Instrument cluster configuration malfunction

VERIFY MAZDA ERA-GLONASS CONTROL MODULE WAS INSTALLED ON DIFFERENT VEHICLE
•  Verify if the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module was installed on a different vehicle.
•  Was the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module installed on a different vehicle?
Yes
Install the correct Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module, then go the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
2
VERIFY MAZDA ERA-GLONASS CONTROL MODULE DTCs AGAIN
•  Clear the DTC for the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 25 s or more.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 5.

RESET CONFIGURATION DATA FROM INSTRUMENT CLUSTER TO MAZDA ERA-GLONASS CONTROL MODULE
•  Using the M-MDS, perform the instrument cluster configuration (using As-Built data).
•  Clear the DTC for the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 25 s or more.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Using the M-MDS, perform the instrument cluster configuration (using As-Built data) again, then go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 5.

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 25 s or more.
•  Perform the DTC inspection for the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the Mazda ERA-GLONASS control module.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.
5
VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
