Item
MRCC/SBS/DRSS MIS-OPERATION
Description
•  The system operates on a vehicle traveling in the adjacent drive lane.
•  System operates on objects not within the millimeter wave emission range of the radar units.
•  MRCC unintentional vehicle speed decrease
•  MRCC unintentional vehicle speed increase
Possible Causes
Note
•  The detection performance of the radar unit has limitations and the mazda radar cruise control (MRCC) system may not operate normally. For the detection performance limitations, refer to the [RADAR UNIT] in the technical guide.
•  Radar unit and radiator grille ornament soiling, scratches, or loss
•  Radar axis deviation due to impact around radar unit
•  Radar axis deviation due to poor radar unit installation
•  Aiming adjustment not implemented
•  Poor radar unit
•  DSC HU/CM malfunction
•  SAS control module malfunction
•  Radar unit malfunction
•  Explain that the system may temporarily mis-operate due to the following causes.
?  Effects of traffic conditions
•  Driving on a continuously curving road, entrance to and exit of a curve, or narrow lane roads due to road construction or lane closures
•  Driving under erratic conditions in which there is an accident or vehicle breakdown within position of vehicle lane lines
?  Effects of driving conditions
•  Vehicle posture largely changes due to load condition
?  Effects from maintenance condition of vehicle
•  Dirt on radiator grille ornament, modifications, application of stickers (including transparent types), scratches, or damage
?  Effects of detected objects (driving under condition in which the following conditions recur repeatedly)
•  There is roadside structure at entrance to a curve
•  There is on-coming vehicle when making a right turn or cornering
•  Crossing narrow iron bridge
•  Passing through low or narrow gate
•  There is metal object, height difference, or projection on road surface
•  Approaching vehicle ahead rapidly
•  Passing through electronic toll gate

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Action

1
VERIFY INDICATION IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER LCD
•  Is the message indicating “Front radar blocked” displayed in the LCD in the instrument cluster?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 3.
2
VERIFY AREA AROUND RADAR UNIT
•  Visually inspect the surface of the radar unit or front bumper for any of the following conditions:
?  Dirt is adhering to radar unit surface
?  Dirt is adhering to front bumper surface
?  Foreign matter (reflective object) is adhering to radar unit
?  Foreign matter (reflective object) is adhering to front bumper
Yes
•  Clean and remove foreign matter from the radar units and surface of the front bumper (reflecting object), and verify the indication in the LCD.
“Front radar blocked” is not displayed
•  System is normal.
(Mis-operation due to soiling or foreign matter (reflecting object) on radar units or front bumper surface.)
“Front radar blocked” is displayed
•  Replace the radar unit.
No
Go to the next step.
3
VERIFY RADAR UNIT BRACKET
•  Verify that there is no bending or damage on the radar unit bracket.
•  Is there bending or damage on the radar unit bracket?
Yes
Replace the radar unit bracket and perform the aiming adjustment.
No
Go to the next step.
4
PERFORM RADAR UNIT AIMING ADJUSTMENT
•  Perform the radar unit aiming adjustment.
•  Perform the DTC inspection using the M-MDS.
•  Is DTC C1A67:54 displayed?
Yes
Perform inspection for DTC C1A67:54
No
•  A temporary system malfunction can be considered.
•  Refer to the possible malfunctions and explain to the customer that there is no malfunction.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the radar unit.
