LIFTGATE STOPS/REVERSES DURING AUTO OPERATION [POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) SYSTEM]

Description	• The liftgate stops or reverses during auto open/close operation with the ignition switched ON (engine off or on).
Possible Causes	• Dirt or foreign matter (reflective object) on power liftgate (PLG) touch sensor • Power liftgate (PLG) control module malfunction • Power liftgate (PLG) touch sensor malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	INSPECT POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) TOUCH SENSOR • Visually inspect the power liftgate (PLG) touch sensor for the following. ? Dirt ? Adhered foreign matter (reflective object) • Is there dirt or foreign matter (reflective object) on the power liftgate (PLG) touch sensor?	Yes	Remove dirt or foreign matter (reflective object), then go to the next step.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION CAUSE IS POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE OR POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) TOUCH SENSOR • Inspect the power liftgate (PLG) control module. (See POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE INSPECTION.) • Is the power liftgate (PLG) control module normal?	Yes	Replace the power liftgate (PLG) touch sensor, then go to the next step. (See POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) TOUCH SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION
2		No	Replace the power liftgate (PLG) control module, then go to the next step. (See POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTION IS RESOLVED • Perform auto open/close operation and verify that the operation does not stop or reverse. • Is the auto open/close operation normal?	Yes	Troubleshooting completed. (Explain the contents of the servicing to the customer.)
3		No	If the malfunction has not been resolved, repeat the inspection from Step 1.
