POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

Caution
-
• When replacing the power liftgate (PLG) control module, it is necessary to set the fully open position again after replacement. Therefore, measure the power liftgate (PLG) fully open position in advance. If the power liftgate (PLG) control module is replaced, the power liftgate will open to an unexpected position and the vehicle could be damaged because the changed fully open position is cleared.

• The power liftgate (PLG) control module prior to replacement stores the vehicle specification information.
• A new power liftgate (PLG) control module does not store any vehicle specification information.
• When the ignition is switched ON, the power liftgate (PLG) control module reads the vehicle specification information sent via CAN communication from the instrument cluster, and stores the vehicle specification information.
1. When replacing the power liftgate (PLG) control module, measure the power liftgate fully open position.
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3. Remove the following parts:
- (1) Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

- (2) Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

- (3) Trunk side pocket (See TRUNK SIDE POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
- (4) Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
- (5) Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
- (6) Third-row seat cushion (See THIRD-ROW SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
-
- (7) Third-row seat back component (See THIRD-ROW SEAT BACK COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

- (8) Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

4. Disconnect the connectors.
5. Remove the bolts.
6. Remove the power liftgate (PLG) control module.
7. Install in the reverse order of removal.
8. When the power liftgate (PLG) control module is replaced, perform the automatic configuration using the following procedure.
- (1) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 min or more.

- (2) Switch the ignition off and wait for 3 s or more.

- (3) Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and complete the power liftgate (PLG) control module automatic configuration.

- (4) Using the M-MDS, verify that DTC U2100:56,U2300:54, U2300:55 or U2300:56 is not displayed.

9. When replacing the power liftgate (PLG) control module, change the power liftgate fully open position to the position measured before replacing the power liftgate (PLG) control module.
