Item
BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) OFF INDICATOR LIGHT DOES NOT ILLUMINATE WHEN THE IGNITION IS SWITCHED TO ON
Description
•  Blind spot monitoring (BSM) OFF indicator light does not illuminate when the ignition is switched to ON.
•  The blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module does not communicate with the M-MDS.
Possible Causes
Note
•  The detection performance of the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module has limitations and the blind spot monitoring (BSM) system may not operate normally. For the detection performance limitations, refer to the [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE] in the technical guide.
•  Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) does not initiate
?  Open or short circuit in blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) power supply circuit (open or short to ground circuit in wiring harness between IG1 relay terminal C and blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminal I)
?  Open circuit in blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) ground circuit (open circuit in wiring harness between blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) and ground, poor contact at ground point)
?  Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) malfunction
•  Instrument cluster does not illuminate blind spot monitoring (BSM) OFF indicator light
?  Instrument cluster malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step

Inspection

Result

Action

1*
INSPECT BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (LH) POWER SUPPLY VOLTAGE
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on).
•  Measure the voltage at blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminal I.
•  Is the voltage B+?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect and repair for the following:
•  Inspect the condition of fuses between the push button start and the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH), and perform repairs at the location where the fuse is blown.
•  Inspect for an open circuit in the wiring harness between the or IG1 relay terminal C and the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH).
2*
INSPECT BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (LH) GROUND CIRCUIT
•  Switch the ignition to off (LOCK).
•  Verify that there is continuity between the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) terminal J and ground.
•  Is there continuity?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Inspect and repair the ground point.
Repair or replace for an open circuit between the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH) and ground.
3
INSPECT IF MALFUNCTION IS IN INSTRUMENT CLUSTER OR BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE (LH)
•  Turn off the blind spot monitoring (BSM) OFF indicator light using the M-MDS instrument cluster active command modes WL+IL.
•  Does the blind spot monitoring (BSM) OFF indicator light turn on according to the active command modes?
Yes
Replace the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module (LH).
No
Replace the instrument cluster.
