Description

•  The Driver Attention Alert does not operate even though the operation conditions for the Driver Attention Alert have been met.

Possible malfunction

•  Parking assist unit
•  Turn switch malfunction
•  Electric parking brake switch malfunction
•  Transaxle range sensor (TCM-integrated) malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

VERIFY DTCs
•  Using the M-MDS, display the DTCs related to the parking assist unit.
•  Are any DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair the malfunctioning location according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
Go to the next step.

DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO TURN SWITCH.
•  Verify that the indicators in the instrument cluster operate correctly in conjunction with the operation of the turn switch.
•  Do the indicators operate normally?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the turn switch, then go to the next step.

DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO ELECTRIC PARKING BRAKE SWITCH
•  Verify that the indicators in the instrument cluster operate correctly in conjunction with the operation of the electric parking brake switch.
•  Do the indicators operate normally?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Replace the electric parking brake switch, then go to the next step.

DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO TRANSAXLE RANGE SENSOR (TCM-INTEGRATED)
•  Verify that the gear position indicator in the instrument cluster displays correctly according to the shift operation.
•  Is the gear position indicator in the instrument cluster normal?
Yes
The system is normal therefore the symptom troubleshooting is completed. (Explain to the customer that there is no malfunction with the system.)
No
Replace the TCM.
