TROUBLESHOOTING ITEM	Engine stalls when shifted to D, M or R position
DESCRIPTION	• Engine stalls when shifting from N or P position to D, M or R position at idle.
POSSIBLE CAUSE	1. Not within idle speed specification 2. TCC piston malfunction (solenoid drive circuit, hydraulic passage blockage, poor operation) ? Output solenoid valve malfunction (stuck) • TCC control solenoid 3. Torque converter malfunction

Diagnostic procedure

STEP	INSPECTION		ACTION
1	INSPECT ENGINE SYSTEM OR AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE OPERATION FOR MALFUNCTION • Perform the symptom troubleshooting “NO.5 ENGINE STALLS-AFTER START/AT IDLE” and “NO.10 LOW IDLE/STALLS DURING DECELERATION”. (See NO.5 ENGINE STALLS-AFTER START/AT IDLE [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].) (See NO.10 LOW IDLE/STALLS DURING DECELERATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].) • Is there any malfunction?	Yes	Repair or replace any malfunctioning parts according to the inspection result.
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO TORQUE CONVERTER OPERATION MALFUNCTION • Verify the malfunction symptom. • Does the engine stall in the R position?	Yes	Replace the torque converter. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6A-EL].) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6AX-EL].)
2		No	Go to the next step.
3	DETERMINE IF MALFUNCTION IS DUE TO TORQUE CONVERTER OPERATION MALFUNCTION • Verify the malfunction symptom. • Does the engine stall in the D or M position?	Yes	Replace the control valve body. (See CONTROL VALVE BODY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6A-EL, GW6AX-EL].)
3		No	Replace the automatic transaxle. (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6A-EL].) (See AUTOMATIC TRANSAXLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [GW6AX-EL].)
