LIN communication error

Detection condition
•  LIN bus communication line malfunction detected
Fail-safe
•  Stops the hands-free liftgate operation.
Possible cause
•  Foot-motion detection unit removed without turning off hands-free liftgate personalization settings
•  Malfunction in LIN bus communication line
?  Power liftgate (PLG) control module terminal 1C—Foot-motion detection unit terminal 1C
•  Foot-motion detection unit malfunction
•  Power liftgate (PLG) control module malfunction

VERIFY THAT FOOT-MOTION DETECTION UNIT HAS NOT BEEN REMOVED
•  Verify the foot-motion detection unit installation condition.
•  Is the installation condition normal?
Yes
Go to Step 3.
No
If there is an accessory installed near the foot-motion detection unit installation area:
•  Go to Step 2.
If there is no accessory installed near the foot-motion detection unit installation area:
•  After installing the foot-motion detection unit correctly, go to Step 5.

VERIFY HANDS-FREE LIFTGATE SETTING
•  Verify the hands-free liftgate function settings on the center display screen.
•  Is the hands-free liftgate function off?
Yes
Go to the next step.
No
Turn the hands-free liftgate function off, then go to Step 5.

VERIFY POWER LIFTGATE (PLG) CONTROL MODULE DTCs AGAIN
•  Clear the DTC for the foot-motion detection unit using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 s or more.
•  Retrieve the foot-motion detection unit DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Inspect the LIN comunication line.
If there is any malfunction:
•  Refer to the wiring diagram and verify whether or not there is a common connector between power liftgate (PLG) control module terminal 1C and foot-motion detection unit terminal 1C.
If there is a common connector:
?  Determine the malfunctioning part by inspecting the common connector and the terminal for corrosion, damage, or pin disconnection, and the common wiring harness for a malfunction.
?  Repair or replace the malfunctioning part.
If there is no common connector:
?  Repair or replace the wiring harness.
•  Go to Step 5.
If there is no malfunction:
•  Go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 6.

INSPECT FOOT-MOTION DETECTION UNIT FOR MALFUNCTION DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY
•  Clear the DTC for the foot-motion detection unit using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 s or more.
•  Retrieve the foot-motion detection unit DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Replace the foot-motion detection unit, then go to the next step.
No
Go to Step 6.

VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED
•  Clear the DTC for the foot-motion detection unit using the M-MDS.
•  Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 s or more.
•  Retrieve the foot-motion detection unit DTCs using the M-MDS.
•  Is the same DTC displayed?
Yes
Repeat the inspection from Step 1.
•  If the malfunction recurs, replace the power liftgate (PLG) control module.
Go to the next step.
No
Go to the next step.

VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED
•  Are any other DTCs displayed?
Yes
Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting.
No
DTC troubleshooting completed.
