Description	Error signal received from electric power steering (EPS) control module
Detection condition	• Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module receives the error signal from the electric power steering (EPS) control module for 1 s or more.
Fail-safe	• Blind spot monitoring (BSM) system is stopped.
Possible cause	• DTCs are stored in the electric power steering (EPS) control module. • Electric power steering (EPS) control module malfunction • Blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module malfunction

Diagnostic Procedure

Step	Inspection		Action
1	VERIFY ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) CONTROL MODULE DTCs • Retrieve the electric power steering (EPS) control module DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)].) • Are any DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS)].)
1		No	Go to the next step.
2	VERIFY IF MALFUNCTIONING LOCATION IS ELECTRIC POWER STEERING (EPS) CONTROL MODULE DEPENDING ON REPEATABILITY • Clear the DTC for the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE].) • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 s or more. • Retrieve the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE].) • Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Replace the electric power steering (EPS) control module, then go to the next step. (See STEERING WHEEL AND COLUMN REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2		No	Go to Step 4.
3	VERIFY THAT REPAIRS HAVE BEEN COMPLETED • Clear the DTC for the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module using the M-MDS. (See CLEARING DTC [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE].) • Switch the ignition ON (engine off or on) and wait for 1 s or more. • Retrieve the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module DTCs using the M-MDS. (See DTC INSPECTION [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE].) • Is the same DTC displayed?	Yes	Replace the blind spot monitoring (BSM) control module, then go to the next step. (See BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
3		No	Go to the next step.
4	VERIFY IF OTHER DTCs DISPLAYED • Are any other DTCs displayed?	Yes	Repair or replace the malfunctioning part according to the applicable DTC troubleshooting. (See DTC TABLE [BLIND SPOT MONITORING (BSM) CONTROL MODULE].)
4		No	DTC troubleshooting completed.
