Caution
•  Performing the following procedures could cause an open circuit in the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness if it is pulled by mistake. Before servicing, disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor and set it aside so that the wiring harness will not be pulled by mistake.

1.  Align the rear crossmember component and rear upper arm and mark them.

2.  Switch the ignition ON (engine off).

3.  Release the electric parking brake.

4.  Switch the ignition off.

5.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

6.  Remove the wheels and tires. (See WHEEL AND TIRE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

7.  Disconnect the rear auto leveling sensor link. (With auto leveling sensor)

8.  Disconnect the wiring harness clips and connectors installed to the rear crossmember.

9.  Set the rear differential breather hose aside.

10.  Disconnect the rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness and the electric parking brake motor gear unit connector and set it aside so that it does not interfere with the servicing.

11.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Floor under cover No.2 (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Floor under cover No.1 (See FLOOR UNDER COVER REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Brace bar

(4)  Tunnel member
(5)  Strut bar
(6)  TWC (See EXHAUST SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
(7)  Propeller shaft (See PROPELLER SHAFT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(8)  Rear coil spring (See REAR COIL SPRING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(9)  Protector (See REAR LATERAL LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

12.  Disconnect the rear lateral link from the hub support. (See REAR LATERAL LINK REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

13.  Remove in the order indicated in the table.

14.  Install in the reverse order of removal. (See Suspension Links Installation Note.)

15.  Inspect the wheel alignment and adjust it if necessary. (See REAR WHEEL ALIGNMENT.)

16.  Perform the headlight auto leveling system initial setting. (With auto leveling sensor) (See HEADLIGHT AUTO LEVELING SYSTEM INITIALIZATION.)

Rear Upper Arm Removal Note

1.  Support the rear crossmember component with a jack and remove the rear crossmember installation nuts.

2.  Press down on the rear crossmember component slowly until the rear upper arm inside installation bolts can be removed using a jack.

3.  Remove the rear upper arm.


Rear Upper Arm Bushing Removal Note

1.  Mark the rear upper arm as shown in the figure.

2.  Press the rear upper arm bushing out using the SSTs.

Caution
•  Set using the SST(49 U034 204) as shown in the figure to prevent damaging the rear upper and rear upper arm bushing and remove the rear upper arm bushing.

Suspension Links Installation Note

1.  When installing the joint sections with rubber bushings, perform the following procedures.

(1)  Temporarily tighten the bolts with the vehicle lifted up.
(2)  Lower the vehicle to the ground and tighten the bolts to the specified torque.


Rear Upper Arm Bushing Installation Note

1.  Mark the new rear upper arm bushing as shown in the figure.

H1: 7.0 mm {0.28 in}

2.  Align the projection of a new rear upper arm bushing with the marks placed during removal.

3.  Press fit the rear upper arm bushing until the marks placed in Step 1 cannot be seen using the SSTs.

Caution
•  Set using the SST(49 U034 204) as shown in the figure to prevent damaging the rear upper arm and rear upper arm bushing and install the rear upper arm bushing.

Note
•  Be careful when press-fitting the rear upper arm bushing because the bushing height of the inner and outer sides differs.

H3: 43.5 mm {1.71 in}

4.  After installing the rear upper arm bushing, verify that it is installed to the position shown in the figure.

H4: 23.0±0.6 mm {0.906±0.02 in}


Rear Upper Arm Inner Bolt Installation Note

Note
•  When newly replacing the rear upper arm, place alignment marks on the new part in the same position as the removed rear upper arm.

1.  Align the alignment marks and tighten the rear upper arm inner bolt to the specified torque.

Tightening torque
127—154 N·m {13—15 kgf·m, 94—113 ft·lbf}

2.  Lift up the rear crossmember component using a jack and install the rear crossmember installation nuts.

Tightening torque
91—111 N·m {9.3—11 kgf·m, 68—81 ft·lbf}


Rear Upper Arm Outer Bolt Installation Note

1.  Insert the rear upper arm outer bolt from the front of the vehicle.


Rear Upper Arm Outer Nut Installation Note

1.  Tighten the rear upper arm outer nut with the following parts removed.

•  Protector
•  Rear ABS wheel-speed sensor wiring harness bracket
