HIGH PRESSURE FUEL PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T]

1. Complete the “BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION”. (See BEFORE SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
2. Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)
3. Remove the plug hole plate. (See PLUG HOLE PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
4. Remove the air cleaner, air hose and fresh air duct as a single unit. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
5. Remove the battery. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6. Remove the air inlet pipe. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
7. Remove in the order indicated in the table.
8. Install in the reverse order of removal.
9. Complete the “AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION”. (See AFTER SERVICE PRECAUTION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
10. Complete the “Fuel Leakage Inspection After High Pressure Fuel Pump Installation”. (See Fuel Leakage Inspection After High Pressure Fuel Pump Installation.)

Protector Removal Note
1. Remove the clip from the protector.

2. Remove the ground cable from the protector.

3. Remove the protector.
High Pressure Fuel Pipe Removal Note
|
1. Remove the high pressure fuel pipe.
Rear Housing Removal Note
1. Remove the battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2. Disconnect the turbocharger air outlet pipe from the dynamic pressure turbo. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
3. Remove the vacuum pump. (See VACUUM PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
4. Remove the exhaust CMP sensor. (See CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
5. Remove the ECT sensor No.1. (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
6. Remove the rear housing.
Rear Housing Installation Note
1. Apply silicone sealant to the areas shown in the figure.

2. Install the rear housing.
3. Install the ECT sensor No.1. (See ENGINE COOLANT TEMPERATURE (ECT) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
4. Install the exhaust CMP sensor. (See CAMSHAFT POSITION (CMP) SENSOR REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
5. Install the vacuum pump. (See VACUUM PUMP REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
6. Connect the turbocharger air outlet pipe to the dynamic pressure turbo. (See INTAKE-AIR SYSTEM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION [SKYACTIV-G 2.5T].)
7. Install the battery tray. (See BATTERY REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
High Pressure Fuel Pump Installation Note
1. Remove the front splash shield (RH). (See FRONT SPLASH SHIELD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
2. Rotate the crankshaft approx. 59 degrees from TDC of cylinder No.1.

3. Insert the high pressure fuel pump into the rear housing.
4. Press in the high pressure fuel pump until the O-ring cannot be seen.
5. Temporarily tighten the high pressure fuel pump installation bolt on one side until its head contacts the high pressure fuel pump.
6. Tighten the high pressure fuel pump installation bolt which is not tightened in Step 4
7. Tighten the high pressure fuel pump installation bolt which was tightened in Step 4.
High Pressure Fuel Pipe Installation Note
1. Temporarily tighten the nuts on both ends.
2. Temporarily tighten the high pressure fuel pipe bracket installation bolt.
3. Tighten the nuts on both ends.
4. Tighten the high pressure fuel pipe bracket installation bolt.
Protector Installation Note
1. Install the protector.

2. Install the ground cable to the protector.
|
3. Install the clip to the protector.
|
Fuel Leakage Inspection After High Pressure Fuel Pump Installation
1. Verify that the high pressure fuel pump is assembled securely.
2. Verify that there is no fuel leakage around the high pressure fuel pump.
