LIFTGATE HINGE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION

1.  Disconnect the negative battery terminal. (See NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL DISCONNECTION/CONNECTION.)

2.  Remove the following parts:

(1)  Liftgate upper trim (See LIFTGATE UPPER TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(2)  Liftgate (See LIFTGATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(3)  Trunk covering (See TRUNK COVERING REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(4)  Trunk board (See TRUNK BOARD REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(5)  Trunk side pocket (See TRUNK SIDE POCKET REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(6)  Trunk end trim (See TRUNK END TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(7)  Rear scuff plate (See REAR SCUFF PLATE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(8)  Third-row seat cushion (See THIRD-ROW SEAT CUSHION REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(9)  Third-row seat back component (See THIRD-ROW SEAT BACK COMPONENT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(10)  Trunk side trim (See TRUNK SIDE TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(11)  D-pillar trim (See D-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(12)  Upper anchor installation bolt on the second-row seat belt (See SECOND-ROW SEAT BELT REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(13)  C-pillar trim (See C-PILLAR TRIM REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)
(14)  Assist handle (rear) (See ASSIST HANDLE REMOVAL/INSTALLATION.)

Note
•  There are two types of headliner. Verify the headliner shape before performing the procedures.

3.  Remove the fasteners. (Type A)

4.  Insert a tape-wrapped flathead screwdriver into the position shown in the figure, move it in the direction of the arrow, and detach the clips. (Type B)

5.  Peel back the seaming welt of the rear door and the liftgate.

Caution
•  If the headliner is peeled back excessively, the headliner could become creased. Be careful not to peel back the headliner excessively.

6.  While partially peeling back the rear part of the headliner, remove the nuts.

7.  Remove the liftgate hinge.

8.  Install in the reverse order of removal.

9.  Adjust the liftgate. (See LIFTGATE ADJUSTMENT.)

10.  Perform the 360° view monitor system aiming. (with 360° view monitor system) (See 360°VIEW MONITOR SYSTEM AIMING.)

11.  Perform the parking assist system initialization (calibration). (with projected vehicle path line display and without 360° view monitor system) (See PARKING ASSIST SYSTEM INITIALIZATION (CALIBRATION).)
